If you wear sandals that were not made for you...

Greetings to all…

We do not offer sandals in ready-made sizes. We make only custom sandals especially for our clients.

If you wear sandals from off of the shelf then you are wearing sandals made for someone else…
After all, very few of us have feet which are the same size. In addition, very few of us have a foot size which the shoe industry has deemed to be standard. A person may actually wear a size 9¼ or 7¾ or a size 8½ on the left foot and a size 9 on the right.

Concerning arch supports. If you are not wearing arch supports which are made for you, then it follows that you are wearing supports that are made for someone else…

You will find that many of the so-called handmade sandals have spongy moldable insoles, this is supposed to makeup for the mis-sized sandal.

All of our sandals are hand made except for the buckles; the rivets and the soling clinch nails.
We buy them.

We use leather "Soling Bends" exclusively for the soles of our sandals. The insole is full grain leather as is the top sole and straps. (There is a big difference between "Full Grain Leather" and "Top Grain Leather"). Top Grain leather has had the top layer shaved off of the hide.

The rivets are solid copper, and hand riveted, as to be flawless.

The entire leather cutting is done by hand, not by a clicker machine or cutting punch stamps.
You will notice immediately when looking at the sole of our sandals that the shape is hand cut.

The arch-supports are hand crafted from your sizing drawing…
Hand carved Cookies and wedges are available

We call our sandals "Your Footprint in Leather".

Regards, Robert, Master Leatherworker, since 1970...

It all began in 1970 when we began making leather bags and sandals for the "Hippies" at the Alameda Swap-meet on Alameda Island in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We then branched out to Telegraph Ave. in Berkley, selling from a blanket on the sidewalk in front of "Cody's" bookstore.
Our first shop was located in the basement of a Victorian mansion at the end of Union Street, the last house on the left Against the Alameda estuary. Appropriately named the Union Leather Shop.
After we moved from Union Street and away from Alameda we re-named to "Sandaleer".
The rest is history...
